St Marylebone church Hordings

Portrait paintings was displayed on the large hoarding protecting St Marylebone church on the Marylebone Road, while major building and restoration work are carried out. The church was designed by architect Thomas Hardwick and built around 1817. The work, is part-funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The portraits are all of famous people who either lived, worked, or had some connection to the area. Neeta painted the cellist Jacqueline du Pre, 1945 – 1987. British cellist. At a young age, she achieved enduring mainstream popularity. Despite her short career, she is regarded as one of the greatest cellists of all time.
